Dr. Joseph R. Treadwell, DPM

Dr. Treadwell is a nationally known foot and ankle expert serves New Britain, CT and practices in Plainville (behind J.Timothy's Taverne), Connecticut. He has previously been selected as “Podiatrist of the Year” for his service, leadership and contribution to the advancement of foot and ankle medicine and surgery. Dr. Treadwell, an international lecturer, has published numerous articles and book chapters on trauma and reconstructive surgery of the ankle and foot. He is THE ankle and foot surgeon for other doctors, nurses and their families, and is the go-to referral destination for other surgeons whose patients experience unforeseen complications even after multiple surgeries. Dr. Treadwell is a governor appointee to the Connecticut Board of Examiners in Podiatry and the Acting Chair. He is a past-president of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and serves as site director for the Yale Foot and Ankle Surgical Residency program. Dr. Treadwell is a past-president of the Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association and has served as a surgical residency evaluator for the Council on Podiatric Medical Education. Dr. Treadwell serves as Chief of Podiatry at The Hospital of Central CT. Dr. Treadwell treats all conditions of the foot and ankle from ingrown nails to bunions to complex trauma and ankle surgery. He is at the forefront of bunion and hammertoe surgery techniques including Minimal Incision Surgery(MIS) and lapiplasty type procedures. His areas of surgical expertise include adult revisional and reconstructive ankle and foot surgery, trauma and pediatric foot and ankle disorders. Dr. Treadwell is one of the few surgeons in the country that performs small joint arthroscopy of the foot and ankle preventing the need for large incisions. Dr. Treadwell sports medicine background assists him in treating athletes of all levels.
